UK renewable energy, waste prevention and conservation projects have secured €29.7m of new funding from a European Union scheme designed to protect the environment and tackle climate change.
The European Commission today confirmed it would provide €282.6m for 225 new environment and climate projects across the EU’s 28 member states, of which 11 are based in the UK.
“These latest projects will make a vital contribution to the preservation, conservation and enhancement of Europe’s natural capital, as well as helping to achieve sustainable growth through investment in a low carbon and resource efficient economy,” said Environment Commissioner Janez Potočnik.
